Ken Coley has enjoyed an exciting career in teaching and educational leadership for over 30 years. A native of Raleigh, NC, Dr. Coley graduated from WakeForestUniversity in 1974 with a B.A. in English and began his teaching career at Queens Lake Intermediate School in Williamsburg, VA. During his first five years of teaching he studied school administration at the College of William and Mary while teaching English in grades 7 through 12. After completing his degree and moving to Maryland, he taught two more years of high school English before God called him to begin his career in administration of Christian schools.
With a master’s degree in administration and seven years’ teaching experience, Ken became the principal of Montrose Christian School in Rockville, MD, where he was blessed to serve for 15 years. During his ministry the school grew to its capacity of over 700 students. He continued his academic studies at the University of Maryland at College Park and earned his Doctor of Education degree in 1993.
The next big career change came in 1996 when Dr. Coley began his teaching career at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. During the last 11 years he has helped develop and teach classes in church education and administration, youth ministry, and teacher education. His primary assignment has been to train Christian school administrators. Three highlights include the publication of his textbook, The Helmsman: Leading with Courage and Wisdom; the presentation of his faculty lecture, “Pastor, How Should We Educate Our Children”; and the development of a new Ed.D. program, which he directs.
Ken has been married to his wife, Kathy, for 32 years. They have two children. Scott is a recent graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and will begin working toward a Ph.D. in philosophy at PurdueUniversity in August 2007. Caitlin is a senior at North Raleigh Christian Academy in Raleigh, NC; she is active in athletics and is currently working hard to help finish the current issue of her school’s yearbook. The household also includes two German Shepherds and two cats.
Micheal Pardue was called to First Baptist Icard on January 13, 2013 and began his ministry there on February 17. He and his wife, Rachel, have three sons, Elijah, Jason and Kyle and three daughters, Kristen, Addelyen and Lilyanna. Dr. Pardue is native of Taylorsville, NC where he grew up at East Taylorsville Baptist Church. He was baptized in 1995 and answered the call in to vocational ministry at 13.
Micheal holds a B.A. in Theater Arts from Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC and a M.C.M. from the T. Walter Brashier Graduate School at North Greenville University in Greer, SC, and an Ed.D. from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
In November of 2009, he was elected Vice-President of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina’s Pastor’s Conference, to BSCNC Board of Directors in 2010 and to the BSCNC Executive Board in 2013.
Bringing a number of years of experience in business and ministry, Justin Smith is a person who loves to train and work with those whom God has called to preach, teach, and lead His people. He is married to the lovely and talented Jen and they have a 2 year old son, Nate, and a newborn daughter, Joanna. He is a native of Charlotte, NC and currently resides in Mint Hill, NC, where he works with a number of churches and ministries.
Justin holds a B.S.B.A. from UNC Charlotte, where he concentrated in Managerial Leadership and minored in American Studies, and a Master of Divinity in Biblical Studies from Southern Evangelical Seminary in Matthews, NC. He is currently a student in the Ed.D. program at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC, where he is studying teaching and learning theories and leadership. Justin has held a variety of ministry positions, ranging from camp counselor to interim pastor, and has a heart for working with underdogs and those that the world has turned its back on.
Marcus Daly is a pastor and a teacher with a heart for making disciples in the local church. Having walked for over thirty years with the Lord and knowing first-hand the devastating effects of non-discipleship, his heart’s desire is to fulfill the Great Commission and “Make Disciples.” Marcus has been full time in ministry since 1999 and served as an Associate Pastor in educational, youth and children’s ministries and as a lead pastor in KY, NC and now at the Forest Hill Baptist Church in Skippers, VA.
He and his wife, Kathleen, of 21 years have homeschooled their three children for the past fifteen years. Their oldest daughter, Sarah and her husband Jonathan are current students at SEBTS preparing for international missions. Their two younger kids, Mary (16) and Paul (15) are both in high school and active in ministry, both having taken mission trips in the past year as well as being involved in their local church.
Marcus has a B.A. from Clear Creek Baptist Bible College in Pineville, KY and a M.A.C.E. from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and is currently completing the Ed.D. program at SEBTS. He is a veteran of the US Air Force (1989-1993) and has worked in several different industries through the years including restaurant, shipping, and public utilities. In all of these areas training and teaching were priorities in his work. His prayer is to see the church become an instrument in the hands of our great Savior, to impact our neighborhoods and the nations with the Gospel of Jesus Christ
